Adult Educational Ministries
Adult programs are a vital part of the church community as they help to cultivate new relationships and deepen our faith in Christ. Through the participation in a small group program, you will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussion and activities that promote growth in your Christian faith.
In this congregation there are a wide variety of occasions for all adults to learn about and experience the Christian faith. Either as participants or through developing your leadership skills, there is growth for all.
Jesus Walk is a group for developmentally challenged adults which meets weekly between September and June to provide a welcoming and loving place where members experience a varied program of music, prayer, special programs and outings. Jesus Walk sings in church on numerous occasions and leads us in an inspiring time of worship on Handicapable Sunday (October). Volunteer leadership with capable, loving and understanding people is provided. Mondays at 7:00 pm
Friendship Bible Study
Every Sunday morning from the beginning of September to the end of June there are smiling faces that are eager to learn about the love that God has for them.
Members of the Friendship Bible study are Handicapable Adults that always want to read Bible Verses on their own or with the assistance of the Leaders.
Friendship Bible study would like to thank the Congregation for the continued support of this Ministry.
Thursday Morning Bible Study
The Thursday morning Bible-based Study Group meets upstairs in the lounge at 9:30 through to 11:30. During our time together we explore our faith through a selected book of interest using an accompanied study guide. Together as a group we learn, share ideas, enjoy music and have prayer. This is a most supportive group of women and new people are always welcome to join us as we explore our walk with God.
We break for the summer months but will begin meeting in the fall in early September. For further information please call the church and leave a message for the contact members: Jane Blogg.
Each week a group of loving people receive a prayer sheet from the Church Office (from Prayer Requests submitted on Sunday mornings) and individually, throughout the days of the week, lift up those requests to God in prayer, praying for the health and healing, the needs and concerns of our people.
Our Senior Choir, meets weekly (Thursday nights, 7:00pm) to prepare musical numbers for presentation in regular Sunday worship. Special music is prepared for our Good Friday Service and on Christmas Eve they present a glorious service of Lessons and Carols. Music is a beautiful vehicle through which the Christian faith is expressed.
Stories of God: Collier’s Reading Circle
There are great books out there to inspire and challenge; great stories that bear witness to the stories of our lives; great biblical themes expressed in fresh and contemporary ways. Here’s a chance to read them and to talk about them in a circle of friendship within the Book Club. Meetings are the 4th Wednesday of Sept, Nov, Jan, March, May & July from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
The United Church Women
The U.C.W. provides a place and program where women of the congregation can meet and express their loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ in Christian witness, study, fellowship and service. Several units meet during the month — some in the daytime and some in the evening — and are always happy to welcome new members.
- Amicae Unit – 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm
- Unity Unit – 3rd Monday of the month at 1:00 pm
- Wo-He-Lo Unit – 4th Monday of the month at 1:00 pm
Seniors Fellowship Luncheon
The purpose of the Seniors Fellowship Luncheon is for Seniors from Collier Street United Church and beyond to meet to enjoy a catered luncheon, social time and program. The program involves music, speakers and/or entertainment. There is a cost of $13 for the meal. Call the church to sign up. Luncheons are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at noon.
L.I.F.E. GROUPS (Living in Faith Everyday)
Small group study in informal settings designed to build people up in their faith in an atmosphere of friendship and trust. The sole purpose of L.I.F.E. Groups is to provide an atmosphere in which Christians:
- Can grow in their faith
- Can live in community with their sisters and brothers in Christ
- Can become disciples of Jesus and servants to each other and the world
- Care that they are part of the group!
Collier LIFE groups follow the lectionary using Season’s of the Spirit adult resource as their guide.
New L.I.F.E. Group: Tuesdays at 9:45 am at Collier
Women’s Group: Thursdays at 7:00 am at Deb’s Place, 352 Huronia Road

Prayer Shawl Ministry
Care, concern for others and the love of knitting and crocheting is combined into a prayerful ministry that creates wraps, blankets and shawls that enfold, and give comfort to individuals who are ill or going through difficult times in life.
This group meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 10 am – 12 pm beginning September in the church Lounge. Please call before you come so that we can be expecting you. Bring your knitting needles or crochet hooks and wool to the first gathering.
Collier Prayer Companions
We always mention you in our prayers and thank God for you. 1 Thessalonians 1:2
Prayer Companions are women and men in our congregation who may not be able to engage in active ministry because of physical limitations or schedule conflicts, yet have the desire to be of service with the church. They are commissioned by our congregation to pray for ministries of our congregation and the various programs that meet here; praying for those who serve and those who receive the ministry.
Please consider being a prayer companion. Your commitment would be to pray each day for a specific group within the church community.
