COVID-19 Updates

It is an exciting time for our community. Yesterday, the board decided to move into Phase 2 of our reopening starting October 1, 2021.

The key addition to the reopening plan is that everyone coming into the building has to indicate or provide proof of vaccination.  We are using the honour system of trusting the word given by others.

To this end our building will be reopened to renters and groups through the usual booking with the office.

We continue to thank you for your patience and role in implementing this plan of action.

Reopening!

After months of being away from the sanctuary at Collier, we are pleased to advise we have returned to in-person worship as of October 3, 2021.

Registration to attend in-person is required either online or by calling the church office before Thursday at 2 p.m. Covid protocols will be in place.

When you arrive for in-person worship, we will be happy to receive you via the office door between 10:00 AM and 10:25 AM. You will be checked in by an usher and your temperature taken.

You will be asked to provide proof or indicate that you are fully vaccinated. The building is only opened to those who are fully vaccinated.

Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this transition. We are all in this together!

New Parking Passes

Parking passes are now required for anyone parking in the church lot, whether for worship, meetings, or events.

They can be picked up in the office Monday – Thursday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Please bring your license plate number as this will be recorded on the pass.

The City will be ticketing vehicles without passes.

Purdy's Chocolate Fundraiser

Purdy’s Chocolates are here, sorted, delivered, or ready for pick up at the Church!

Thanks to Marion Tizzard, Cathey Battaglia & Susan Storring, 202 yummy chocolate goodies were sorted and packaged for pick up and/or delivery on Thursday morning.

Much like Santa’s elves, work was done with a twinkle in our eyes and a smile on our faces knowing that we were going to make a lot of people happy and in turn, YOU made the UCW grateful once again for your support. You helped us to raise just short of $1120.00 for Collier Street United Church.

A special thank you as well to all who helped to deliver or keep the parcels safe.

Enjoy!

Tiny Food Pantry Installed at Collier!

What is this?

Similar to the Tiny Libraries that you see in neighbourhoods, Tiny Food Pantries stock food items to help people who are homeless and/or have food insecurity.
The pantries are stocked with items based on the population in the area. As a number of the guests on and around our church property have no home, we would look at stocking ready to eat, drink or wear items, such as bottled water, granola bars, nutrition drinks, socks etc. depending on the season.

Collier United is part of a city wide pilot project for the Tiny Food Pantries. For the first 8 weeks The Barrie FoodBank will be monitoring and stocking the food pantry, tracking what and how much is used. After the 8 week pilot project Collier will be responsible for restocking and monitoring the food pantries, with help from the Busby Outreach Van and The Barrie Foodbank.

Our Pantry is located in the lower garden near the tall light standard. The supplies to construct the Pantry were donated by Elmvale Home Hardware, along with a cash donation from MPC out in Oro.

The really cool thing is that this is a multi-church, cross-denomination project – with Trinity Anglican, Grace United and Burton Avenue United all participating along with Collier in the pilot. St. Andrew’s Presbyterian will be helping to stock and monitor once we get up and running. The goal is to expand the Pantries across the city… helping people in many neighbourhoods.

The installation took place on July 26th at Grace United.
